
Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel appointed retired district and sessions judge Ziauddin Khattak as the new director general of the K-P Judicial Academy (KPJA) on Tuesday.
The chief justice, who is also chairman of the KPJA, issued the appointment order of Ziauddin Khattak who is currently serving as a judge on the election tribunal. The notification says the terms of his services should be settled by the board of governors of the academy.
Former director general Hayat Ali Shah has joined the newly-established K-P Entesab Commission as a judge. The academy was established in March 2011 under the K-P Judicial Academy Act with the aim to impart professional training to lawyers, judges and other judicial officers.
Recently, the Higher Education Commission issued a no-objection certificate following which the academy will now start issuing postgraduate diplomas, LLM, PhD and other certification besides conducting research on legal issues.
