PESHAWAR: An inspector of the Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) went missing from Hayatabad Phase-VI, three days ago.

Talking to The Express Tribune, an official of the CTD confirmed that Inspector Qasim Khattak went missing under mysterious circumstances. He added the officer was an ex-serviceman who was recruited on a contractual basis.

“He has been missing for three days now and we are investigating the matter,” he said.

“There is no FIR yet, but a roznamcha report has been registered with the Tatara police station by his relatives,” he added.

While the missing officer’s relatives believed he was kidnapped, the police say the inspector was unhappy at work due to his low salary and simply ‘ran away’. They believed he was somewhere in Rawalpindi.

Of late, targeted attacks by militants on both CTD and army personnel have been on the rise in the district. In January, CTD ASI Saida Gul was shot dead; recently two army men, including a colonel, were slain in separate targeted attacks.
