KARACHI:

Pakistan have set their sights on winning the International Sailing Federation Nationals Cup 2015 scheduled to begin on April 19 in Zallaq, Bahrain.

According to Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSF) manager Lieutenant Muhammad Jawed Imran, at least eight to 10 athletes have been preparing for the event, where they will face stiff competition from India.

Imran said the team included talented athletes such as Muhammad Akram Khan and Najeebullah, who won a gold at the Gulf Regatta in Doha in February.

“Sailing is a serious sport,” Imran told The Express Tribune, before explaining how the athletes had been preparing for in Karachi. “We go out to sea to train and make sure the players are fit and motivated before the event. We need at least a month to prepare for any event and build the stamina required to compete against the world’s best athletes.”
