Three-day visit: Sri Lankan president due on Sunday

A number of MOUs/agreements of cooperation in various fields are to be signed after the talks

President of Sri Lanka Maithripapa Srisena will arrive in Pakistan on Sunday kicking off a three-day state visit at the invitation of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Sri Lanka Foreign Office spokesperson while giving details of the visit said that this will be the first visit by the newly elected President Srisena to Pakistan.


During the visit, President Srisena will meet President Mamnoon Hussain, who is scheduled to host a state banquet in honour of the distinguished visitor while Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to hold official talks with the president.


A number of MOUs/agreements of cooperation in various fields are to be signed after the talks.  The Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan, and senior ministers are also set to call on the visiting dignitary.


Pakistan and Sri Lanka have enjoyed friendly and cordial relations since diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in 1948. Since then, the bilateral relations have grown from strength to strength.
