HANGU: At least 20 houses were destroyed by a landslide following heavy rain in Warasta village of Central Kurram Agency in the late hours of Thursday. There were around 60 houses in the village, officials said. “Some 20 houses in Wrasata village were buried by the landslide. However, most of the people had been evacuated from their homes in advance due to the forecasted landslide risk,” the assistant political agent of Central Kurram Agency, Fazal Qadir, informed The Express Tribune. He added 70 families from the village have been shifted to safe places, thus far. “Since the incident took place during the night, we cannot confirm the extent of the damage,” Qadir said. Meanwhile in Tall, a girl was killed and two others injured when a roof in the house belonging to Shaukat Zaman caved in. SHO Tall police station Syed Mohsin Shah said three girls were present in the room when the ceiling collapsed over them.
