HYDERABAD: The Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) called for the hanging of Amir Ali alias Sirkata who has allegedly confessed to attacking the Muhabbat-e-Sindh rally in Karachi on May 22, 2012. At least 13 people were killed and 28 others were injured in the attack. QAT president Ayaz Latif Palijo demanded the arrest of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Karachi organising committee’s former head Hammad Siddiqi and other suspects who were named by Ali. The suspect was among the detainees arrested during the Rangers’ raid at Nine Zero. The Karachi police told an anti-terrorism court that Ali confessed during interrogation that he, along with his associates, attacked the rally on Siddiqi’s orders. Palijo also criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairperson Asif Zardari and Rehman Malik for coming to the rescue of the MQM when the party’s criminal face was being exposed.
