Ayyan to approach Supreme Court for bail

ISLAMABAD: After her bail application was rejected by the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Tuesday, supermodel Ayyan is all set to file a bail request in the Supreme Court.

Her counsel Sardar Ishaq Khan will challenge the LHC order on Thursday.

“Ayyan is a lady and the law is in favour of bails for women, even in murder cases,” he said, while talking to The Express Tribune. “After getting the full order, I will file an appeal in the apex court, seeking an immediate bail [for Ayyan].”

He added that the supermodel is 22 years old, a first-time offender and yet she is detained with prisoners involved in serious offences.

Ayyan was caught by custom officials on March 14 at the Islamabad airport and shifted to Adiala Jail for allegedly smuggling $500,000 to Dubai.

oopsy | 9 years ago | Reply silly to compare it to rahat issue. firstly there was no doubt about rahats source of earning. he broke the law by carrying above limit/avoiding taxation. it required state to state intervention by pak side to avoid incarceration of rahat in india. assurances were provided. this lady has been netted as part of laundring network (given travel history and fake source of cash submitted) with a much bigger sum i.e 1/2mill dollars. The bail will probably come but by no means at the snap of fingers...

The courts have bought ridicule to themselves for keeping a lady for a simple offence in jail and not allowing bail. People are simply jealous of her and creating unnecessary issues. PTI is currently being investigated for money laundering on its election campaign for having a $ account and not declaring foreign funding. In the same scenario, why is Imran Khan and the senior leadership of PTI not in jail. Rahat Fateh was stopped in India for carrying 150,000 US dollars in cash and a hue and cry was made here that he is innocent and did not know the rules. When it comes to Ayyan, this rule and sentiment has somehow changed. Why; simple fact, people are jealous of her and as mentioned before, Pakistan likes to embarrass it self and make itself the laughning stock of the world

sehr.siddiqui | 9 years ago | Reply The license of her lawyer sardar Ishaq Khan needs to be cancelled for making irrelevant arguments and misleading the court. She is not the first time offender but caught first time. I know nothing will happen to her as there several big names involved in this case. Will the court ask how much money she transferred in her 41 trips in last one year. The court can also ask when and how she acquired the properties she sold in Behria town. She has been telling lies and court should not be emotionally blackmailed.

Malik | 9 years ago | Reply She is an innocent women who just was taking few million dollars on her various over 42 trips to Dubai in last two years. This is a crime more serious and heinous as murder and there are thousands of other female criminals in prison, where she is housed.

One is considered a criminal after a court of law convicts one after due process and all options of appealing the conviction have been exhausted. At most what you can say right now is that she has been accused of a crime. Regardless of how strong or undeniable the evidence is against her, so far, she has not been tried and therefore isn't convicted yet. If you want to raise your voice in favor of justice, please make sure that you don't take away rights from people, even if they have committed a crime.

Norozkhan | 9 years ago | Reply This is just not fair that Ayyan Ali cannot get bail for the money laundering of half million dollars while Mr, Ishaq Dar our Finance Minister who money laundered millions of dollars and admitted is a free man holding responsible position.
