PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Monday said inflation rates are skyrocketing as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government sits idle, looking for a reason to quit.

Addressing a public meeting in the PK-5 constituency, Sherpao said the rulers have failed to pass on any sort of relief to the people and to honour even a single of their vehemently campaigned promises. “Lawlessness, militancy and power outages have made life miserable,” he maintained.

The QWP leader claimed funds are being wasted and not a single government scheme aims to uplift the socio-economic condition of the underprivileged. “It has become increasingly difficult for people to make ends meet,” he added.

Sherpao also submitted an adjournment motion at the K-P Assembly Secretariat to draw attention towards the blocking of computerised national identity cards (CNIC) of the people of the province and the tribal belt. He stated in the motion that National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is blocking CNICs while the verification process is moving at a snail’s pace. “It will deprive them of the right to vote during the local bodies’ elections,” he maintained.
