FAISALABAD:

Dozens of residents of Marzipura staged a demonstration on Sunday against police. They said Razaabad police had failed to find a kidnapped child.

The demonstrators gathered on the Narwala-Marzipura Road and blocked it.

Rafiq Akhtar, said that his four-year-old daughter had been playing in the street near her house on Saturday evening. “A man who lives in our neighbourhood abducted her. Other children who were playing there told us about the kidnapping. We immediately contacted Razaabad police and requested them to arrest the man. On Sunday, they summoned me to the police station. When I reached, the SHO told me to wait. After about an hour, he met me and advised me to look for the child myself,” he said.

The Gulberg ASP talked to the protesters and assured them the girl would be found. The demonstrators then dispersed. The Razaabad SHO said that police had registered a case. “We had called her father to see if he could provide some clues about her whereabouts. However, he somehow got offended. We will take all steps to find the girl,” the SHO said.
