Karachi toil against Sialkot
Sialkot seize initiative on opening day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match against Karachi Blues.
Mohammad Ayub and Mansoor Amjad added 225 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket partnership as Sialkot seized the initiative on the opening day of their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match against Karachi Blues at the National Stadium. Karachi, coming off a crushing defeat in their last match, were made to pay by Ayub and Amjad who both scored 109 as Sialkot reached 273 for four.
Rawalpindi on top
Rashid Latif took five for 77 as Rawalpindi first bundled out Islamabad for 218 and then made 59 for one to dominate the first day at the Diamond Ground.
Latif was supported by Saad Hussain who took three for 45 while Ameer Khan offered the lone resistance for the hosts by scoring 79.
Bowlers’ day in Bahawalpur
It was a superb day for the bowlers as 19 wickets fell during the day with Multan being dismissed for a paltry 81 before Faisalabad managed 163 for nine in reply. Rauf Nazir took four for 23 and Zeeshan Asif claimed three for 14 as Multan struggled for runs in Bahawalpur. There was some consolation for Multan as Abdur Rauf took seven for 80 but Faisalabad finished on top with a 82-run lead.
HBL dominate
Azhar Mehmood took five for 43 and Younus Khan chipped in with three wickets as ZTBL were dismissed for 118 at the Pindi Stadium against HBL. The departmental side then reached 130 for four as the first day ended with Hasan Raza remaining unbeaten on 27.
NBP struggle
NBP were struggling on the first day after being dismissed for 155 before SNGPL managed 73 for two at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. Nasir Jamshed made 40 but Asad Ali took three for 46 to peg back NBP.
Wapda perform
Tahir Khan scored an unbeaten 69 to rescue PIA as they were bowled out for 214 against Wapda at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad. Wapda then made 30 for one before play finished on day one.
