PESHAWAR: To ensure smooth traffic flow in the metropolitan as part of the government’s Peshawar Uplift Programme, the district administration has decided to relocate all large vehicle terminals to the city’s outskirts.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at the office of the Metropolitan Corporation Peshawar (MCP) earlier this week. MCP Administrator Zafar Ali Shah chaired the meeting and directed all relevant departments to present a progress report within a week.

Speaking to journalists after the moot, Shah said in the initial phase the Charsadda Bus Stand would be moved to Ring Road where the government has decided to build a multi-storey parking plaza as well as commercial markets, while truck terminals will also be shifted. The K-P government is committed to renovating the city and clearing it of all types of encroachment to improve traffic flow, he said, adding a three-member committee has been formed to oversee the restoration of the city’s beauty.

According to Shah, on the chief minister’s instructions, four sasta bazaars would be set up at Dalazak Road, Charsadda Road, Nasir Bagh Road and Kohat Road. He said the committee will present a report on the matter to the district administration on Monday (today).

Meanwhile, according to a press release issued by the MCP, Sohail Nazir, the official in charge of renovation of parks and picnic spots, visited various such sites in the city in order to identify areas where solar panels could be installed.
