Altaf Hussain has said the authorities have used Saulat Mirza to tarnish the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) image all over the world.

In a statement issued from the London Secretariat, the MQM chief claimed that the death-row convict was given a script to learn inside his death cell and its video was leaked intentionally to the media a day before his execution.

“Whether they belong to the civil or military establishment, they did an illegal act to defame MQM,” Altaf said on Saturday while addressing supporters by telephone in over 40 cities of the US and Canada for the party’s 31st foundation day.

He said the MQM did not believe in violence or militancy and had no room for criminal elements. “Despite raids on our houses and arrests of our workers, we still stand by the army for the sake of the country,” he said.
