An awareness walk was held on Saturday at Liberty Roundabout to mark the World Down’s Syndrome Day.
The walk, organised by the Down Syndrome Group Pakistan, was attended by former Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Pakistan Tehreek-i--Insaf Lahore district president Aleem Khan, Fauzia Kasoori, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Lahore president Perviez Malik and his wife, Rubina Ashraf and Samina Peerzada. Participants held banners and placards with awareness messages. Can-Med Physiological Service Director Madiha Ejaz said that the Down’s Syndrome was widely misunderstood in the country. “It is important for parents to know how to utilise the full potential of their children. Such children are very loving and sensitive. Their intellectual growth is slower. In developed countries, people send them to regular schools so that they can interact with other children,” she said.
