Bollywood starlet Deepika Padukone is ready to start a foundation ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ to promote mental health care after battling depression and anxiety.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Deepika revealed that during the shoot of Happy New Year she was suffering from depression and how it “was a struggle to wake up”.
The actor shocked audiences by opening up about the problems she faced. It took her lots of emotional breakdowns and counselling sessions with psychologists to realize that she was clinically depressed.
Having gone through such a tumultuous time in her life and losing a close friend to a similar ailment, she has decided to start an organisation to help people manage and deal with psychological problems.
A source close to Deepika said, “It is too early to discuss the scale on which the foundation will be built… All that Deepika is sure about right now is that she wants to start it on March 21st. That day has a special significance for her as it was on this day that she decided to seek professional help last year.”
Although the Bollywood beauty is tied down with two films in production, her busy schedule hasn’t deterred her from arranging meetings with mental health specialists. She is determined to work on this initiative to help people facing similar issues in life who are unable to talk about them because of social stigmas attached.
