For expediency: PHCBA demands vehicle scanners replace check posts

The Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) has demanded the federal and provincial governments replace the numerous check posts in the city with modern vehicle scanners to avoid long queues.


At a general body meeting held at the high court premises on Tuesday, members of the lawyers association said residents face a lot of problems because of check posts set up by security forces in the city. It impacts their daily routine, such as going to work on time, the lawyers said.


According to the association, former chief justice Dost Muhammad Khan had ordered the installation of scanners but the government has not complied with the order so far.


PHCBA President Muhammad Isa Khan said checkpoints have been established on various major roads while many roads in Cantonment have been closed off for security reasons. He questioned the purpose of so many check posts.


General Secretary Muhammad Ayaz Khan, lawyers Shaukat Khan, Ghulam Nabi, Jehangir Khan and others attended the meeting.
