No-show: SHC slaps Rs50,000 fine on Imran in MQM defamation suit

MQM had moved defamation suit against Imran after he held Altaf Hussain responsible for Zahra Shahid's murder

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday fined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan Rs50,000 for not appearing before court for the hearing of a Rs5 billion defamation suit moved by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 2013, Express News reported.

The MQM had moved a defamation suit against Imran after he alleged that Altaf Hussain was responsible for the killing of PTI Sindh senior vice-president Zahra Shahid.

Shahid was shot dead outside her home in Karachi on May 18, 2013, hours before re-elections in some polling stations of NA-250 were due to begin.

She was among PTI’s founding members and was part of the Shaukat Khanum board. Apart from her role in PTI's planning and decision making process, she was also active in campaigning.

Its nothing but Imran's hate for other people, in particulare, for PM NS that he has resorted to a self destruction path. Imran thinks of NS as a lower human being and just can not comprehend the fact that NS has defeated him on every occassation and in every test. Perhaps, Imran needs to grow up and give proper respect to every one for his own good I hope. The result of NA 137 from two ago is a giant slap on Imran's face.

Make accusations if you will but at least show up in court when demanded to do so - that is how the law works in ANY country in the world. He is simply defining his own laws and says he does not believe in the Parliament, nor the Senate and certainly not in the current Prime Minister. His Rs 50,000 fine is really no fine at all; he should be fined at least Rs 10 lacs. He should also be jailed for causing such a stir and hatred for Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef. He feels that the entire Pakistan Government is his own Cricket Team who should obey and do everything he wants done.
