New lives: Two sisters give birth to seven babies

GILGIT: Two sisters gave birth to seven babies in Astore Valley this past week, but four of the newborns could not survive. The wife of Raqeeb, a resident of Pati Pura village, gave birth to two sons and a daughter on March 9 and all of them are alive. Five days later, Raqeeb’s wife’s sister, married to Noshad Ali, gave birth to quadruplets in District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Astore on Saturday. However, all four babies could not survive primarily because of the lack of facilities at hospitals in the valley.
