Neelam Muneer denies dating Sarfraz Ahmed
Actor says comments lauding Pakistani wicketkeeper misconstrued.
LAHORE:
Model-actor Neelam Muneer made the rumour mill churn after she praised cricketer Sarfraz Ahmed for his performance against South Africa. In the wake of conjecture that she is romantically involved with the current wicketkeeper of the Pakistani team, Muneer clarified she merely commended Sarfraz for his stint, which led Pakistan to an unexpected victory, reported the Roznama Express.
Rubbishing rumours of her affair with Ahmed as baseless, she said, “I had only acknowledged his good performance but people decided to take it in a completely different light. There is another person in my life, who I will only speak about when the time is right.”
On the work front, Muneer shared that, despite being approached with multiple film offers, she has not committed to any, she is still in search of the right project. “Although I have received offers for films, I want to do something different on the silver screen, just like I have done on television.” Muneer, who has starred in multiple television serials, such as Jal Pari and Aankh Macholi, noted, “It is heartening to see that more films are being made in the country, which audiences have been appreciating.”
“I consider myself lucky that people want to see me in films, but I don’t want to rush into making a decision, which I may regret later on,” she commented. But despite delaying her film appearance, she shared that, like many TV actors, she has developed a desire to work in films, as it is a more ‘popular medium’.
Owing to her growing popularity on TV, it was only a while before Muneer began receiving offers from across the border. She said that, apart from roles in movies, she has received offers for music videos and TV commercials from India, but refused them on the grounds that they required her to do bold scenes. “I want to start my film career from Pakistan because I have garnered all my fame and fortune in this country,” she said.
