Violators in the dock: Two clerics booked for misusing loudspeaker

Rawalpindi police have booked two prayer leaders for violating the ban on loudspeaker use.


One of the case was registered in Mandra and the other on Rawat. Mandra police registered a case against Sahang Jamia Masjid Khateeb Hafiz Muhammad Taseer while Rawat police booked Jamia Masjid Ghosia Imam Hafiz Muhammad Ijaz for violating the ban on use of loudspeakers.


The Punjab government has restricted the use of loudspeaker to Azaan and Friday sermon (Arabic) only.  The cases were registered under the Punjab Sound System (Regulation) Ordinance 2015. Separately, the police also conducted a raid and arrested four suspected robbers from a graveyard in Eidgah area in Rawalpindi city. The police also recovered weapons from the ring. The suspects were identified as Rab Nawaz, Shahzad, Ayub Khan and Siraj.
