KARACHI: Queen of many hearts, Mathira has worked really hard to make a name in Pakistan's entertainment industry in spite of creating a somewhat controversial image for herself in the process.

But it seems her life has changed for good. We bring to you Mathira's exclusive interview with The Express Tribune during which she spoke on motherhood, and her career in music and modeling.

On Motherhood

After the birth of her son in September 2014, Mathira admits that she has 'toned down' a little as motherhood is her top priority now.

"I was a very happy-go-lucky girl but that's a been-there-done-that kind of a thing. Now being a mommy actually feels good. Life has been great. I have toned down a bit. Now since I have given the mama time to my son, I have set targets to achieve. Previously I used to be a wild horse, now I am a race horse - racing against time; there are goals within the limits and boundaries that I have set that I need to attain," she explained.

She further said,"One has to become mature. When responsibility comes to you, you start thinking from the head. You are no more a kid yourself, you think it is better to become mature."

Mathira thinks that there comes a time in life when one can no longer rely on their friends but always can on their children. "Your children are your life-time investment," she said.

With her son now over five moths old, she said she was able to focus more on her goals. "I had the sweetest moments with baby Aahil. The best of which was when I saw him at his birth. Looking at your child’s smile lights up your whole life. My baby plays a big role in my life, I love him and adore him. I love him more than myself," Mathira said.

Delving further into her life after the birth of her son and how motherhood has changed her Mathira said, "A father will never understand what motherhood is all about. The feeling can not be written down or explained in words."

"I just want to pamper my kid like a small prince! It's very tough emotionally and physically to do this job," she added.

When questioned on plans to have another baby in the near future, Mathira said that it would be tough to have another child just yet. "This is not possible for now. I need to focus on my work," she said.

Releasing two songs and their videos

The VJ-turned-singer and performer is hoping to release two songs; Piya Re later this month followed by a remix of Neeray Aah next month.

"Well, I love this song and I wanted to produce a good beat," she said about Neeray Aah.

Mathira also confirmed that she was in talks with doing a late night show for a news channel she did not name.

Apparently, host of the famous late night show Love Indicator is also in talks to do an item number for an upcoming Lollywood film. “It’s a 'ssshh' situation for now. Either way that item number will be shot in Thailand or Dubai.”
