Action against traders on violation of orders

ISLAMABAD: Lahore DCO Sajjad Bhutta ordered action against traders if found violating the government orders of market closures by 8pm.

Meanwhile, a notification for 2 weekly off days has also been issued.

Under the energy preservation plan, all government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed tomorrow.

The notification said that the government offices will remain open from 8am to 4pm.

Sindh and Punjab have also finalised their new office timings. There will be no half day on Fridays and offices will re-open after a short break for prayers and lunch in Sindh.

While government offices in Punjab will remain open from 8am to 5pm, but there will be a half day on Friday.

Sources said that the decision about the closure of banks on Saturdays will be taken by the State Bank.

HASSAN JALIL CH. | 14 years ago | Reply In my personal opinion the decision of two holdays may be beneficial for short period of time but in the long run it could be harmful as per practice in vogue in the Govt offices, where almost 80% employees came late and waste the time in gossip with one another on different matter and take cups of tea and gone. So it must be revised on 31 July because i think it is not a suitable decision for schools. 8am to 4pm will be a long and labourious period for students.

Atta Jan | 14 years ago | Reply Its good decision of the Government to save the energy but it will be more better if light theft is controlled to save the bill paying common people from extra burden. I am also one of the victim of extra billing, each month I pay for about 150 extra units with upper rates while I receive the bill before one or two days before the due date. For God sake Government should take steps to stop electricity theft and cut the unauthorized connections to reduce the load shedding.

Faiza Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply I totally agree with mr KASHIF HAMEED regarding the QUALITY TIME as they reach office late and come back home early... and spend whole time at their cosy couches. watching tv or any other activities. Even few years back the govt. said that the shopkeepers should shut their shops at 8'opm.this was only for a week... they fined the shop keepers for 5000 bucks but then the old timing came back as they bribed the police.. again i will say teach civic sense first and then make the rules. how come other countries follow all the rules??? in the U.K markets open at 8/9 am and they shut their shops/markets at 5pm. no one can enter. there people follow the rules in pakistan it never happens. if the govt is really serious to save electricity then they should teach people civic sense and if they dont follow fine them. i think it can only be done WHEN THE TRANSPERENCY is there. so one should stop making the short cuts and should follow the rules. EVEN THE TRAFFIC RULES AND STOP PARKING THE CARS ON ZEBRA CROSSING AS IT IS MEANT FOR CROSSING THE ROADS NOT FOR CARS TO STAND BY. 63 years and yet no change in the corruption.!!

Faiza Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply I think that it is not a good decision specially for the students who are attending their college,schools. Their syllabus will not be completed in such short span of time as the B.A PART 2(karachi) students suffered 3 months delay in exams and nw classes as well. Neither they have told us when this 2 day holiday is being implemented.! ****Saving the energy can be done when people will learn the civic sense.****

Sajid Jamali | 14 years ago | Reply Two days Leave in educational institutes is a serious issue, Ministry of Education should Must be involved in this summit, in balochistan the literacy rate is below 40% and the education quality is also poor and out dated. so balochistan's educaiton will affect alot because of this notification, then How can Balochistan meet with the challanges of 21st century.

The basic reason behind two-days off, to save energy, did not work during the previous two occasion due to several reasons. Moreover, how the electricity will be saved when the total working hours would remain same. It will only add to miseries of the common man as he will find offices closed for two days and not sure about after Friday prayers. The electricity can only be saved if the Government decides to turn off airconditioners in the offices for good. Because there is no place in Pakistan where the people could not work without Airconditioners.
