One killed, six injured in attack on Peshawar check post

The deceased was identified as an attacker, while the injured victims were passengers of a van

PESHAWAR: At least one person was killed and six others were injured on Thursday when unidentified assailants attacked a security check post near Gora Qabristan area in Peshawar.


The deceased was identified as one of the check post attackers, while the injured victims were passengers of a van, said Superintendent of Police (SSP) Peshawar Muhammad Umar, Express News reported.

Soon after the attack, the victims were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

Both army and police were present during the time of the attack.

On February 21, cantonment police also claimed to have arrested a notorious militant at a check post in Kohat district, recovering explosives and grenades from his possession.

According to a police official, they were checking vehicles passing through Shaheen check post in Cantonment and signalled a van to stop. He had added during the search, the militant lobbed a grenade at them and fled. There were no casualties because the grenade failed to explode.
