KARACHI: At least four policemen were reportedly killed and two others injured when two police mobiles came under attack near Gul Plaza shopping centre on MA Jinnah Road, and Pakistan Chowk area of Karachi on Tuesday.

In the first incident, according to witnesses, at least four unidentified armed assailants riding two motorcycles opened fire at the cops when they were having tea while patrolling the area.

Reacting on information, an extra contingent of police and Rangers reached the site, cordoned off the area, and initiated further investigation.

Police officials also collected empty shells of pistols apparently used in the incident.

Two of the policemen killed were identified as ASI Riasat, Constable Saeed and Head Constable Rashid.

Bodies and the injured policemen were taken to the Civil Hospital for examination after death and treatment.

This is the third major attack on a police mobile on MA Jinnah Road since 2014.

Meanwhile, another policeman was killed and another injured in a firing incident near Pakistan Chowk. Reports suggest the group which targeted the cops on MA Jinnah Road were behind this attack as well.
