Pillion riding ban challenged in LHC

LAHORE:

The ban on pillion riding in Punjab has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

A Lahore based lawyer has challenged the ban pleading that such measures have never been fruitful in the past. The applicant states in his petition that instead of putting a ban on pillion riding in the province, the security situation should be improved.

He also said such bans are against Article 25 of the constitution which protects the citizens' right to travel.

Earlier, it was reported that the Lahore police were considering imposing a ban on pillion riding during the first 10 days of the holy month of Muharram.
