Murad Saeed refutes degree allegations, claims issue politicised for ulterior motives

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) MNA Murad Saeed on Thursday claimed that controversy surrounding his degree had been politicised a day after Awami National Party’s (ANP) student wing had levied allegations that he had cleared three stalled papers in one hour and received his results the same day.

Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF) had claimed that Murad failed to clear examinations for three courses, namely Remote Sensing, Introduction to Environmental Sciences and Ecology from in semesters five, six and seven respectively. Saeed attended the UoP from 2005 to 2009 while pursuing a Bachelors of Environmental Sciences. However, he was not awarded his degree and detailed transcript till 2013

Terming the allegations levied against him as politically motivated, Saeed tweeted his alleged consolidated mark certificate, issued to him in March 2011, and claimed that it was proof he had passed his examination.

The MNA also tweeted a letter, allegedly sent by UoP Department of Environmental Sciences lecturer Shahla Nazneen to the registrar and the chairperson of the department, wherein allegations of arranging an examination exclusively for Saeed and declaring his result in 2013 were refuted.

Saeed asked if he had not appeared in the examination, then what was the basis of the letter conveyed to the VC. He further contented that if his mark certificate was fake, then why would the lecturer mention it in her letter while responding to the allegations.

He also presented a copy of an affidavit that he claims to have submitted to the Election Commission, notifying that he was awaiting the final transcript and degree.

The MNA further added that he had not received any gold-medal for academic achievements, rather, he claimed that he had won awards in co-curricular activities.

Earlier on Wednesday, PSF activists protested against the alleged violation of SoP. While talking to The Express Tribune, PSF Provincial Secretary Information Muqarab Khan questioned how the university administration was able to conduct such an unprecedented examination and provide special treatment to a student who was not eligible. “The student has to first attend the classes and qualify for the assessment,” he added.

1 | 9 years ago | Reply The transcript is apparently fake being issued by the same department which allowed him for 02 hours semester. Dr Noor Jehan the HOD of the department back in year 2011 didn't sign the transcript for reasons best be known to her. She is presently the VC of University of Swabi and should speak herself regarding confirmation of the transcript or otherwise.............

Hina khan | 9 years ago | Reply his DMC clearly shows that if somebody is so poor in academics, he joins politics, thats why our country is in this state, and i am amazed that environmental science is a very easy subject, and he still got many D and F grades, and by the way by HEC standard, a CGPA above 2 is required for degree, His degree is authentic but his academic record is really poor

Saad A | 9 years ago | Reply all the GPAs for semesters and subjects, which are less then 2 are considered failed. look at his DMC, there are at least 3 subject papers and 2 semesters. Its pity how they fool the people.

raider | 9 years ago | Reply @Aamer Khawaja: @Muhammad: I think you are less aware about procedure of prescribed minimum limits of CGPA. transcript showing less than 2 or as you say 2.5 are based on one semester and technically called as GPA= grade point average, universities prescribe minimum permissible CGPA at the end of each semester and even at the end of degree, CGPA stand for cumulative grade point average is based on cumulative score of all the semesters studies to that date, candidate will have to secure minimum CGPA not GPA to be remain in roll of the university, i think in this case minimal limit will be 2 or less than 2, 50% marks are not compulsory in master degree or even equivalent honor degree, however it is necessary for M.Phil. or PH.D, it is up to the university what criteria laid out as minimum standard if I am not wrong

Whereas in 2013 u r writing to EC that you dont have transcript or degree yet ?? usually universities doesn't take years to issue transcript ... ur documents are actually supporting PSF claims that there us some thing fishy

Funny thing about the transcript: Its not signed by the Chairperson It was made in 2011 Since its not signed by the chairperson its as good as a homemade photoshop job(pti is really good at it by the way), & although its been issued in 2011, somehow the affidavit for not having the detailed transcript is being sent in 2013, why would you lie about not receiving the transcript when u have already received it two years ago? Lastly, the transcript isnt so good, i dont know about UOP but usually below CGPA of 2.5, degree is not issued, & anything below 50 is considered as fail, clearly he has a lot of F's by any standards.

Keeping Niazi's principles in mind, Murad Saeed should resign from all offices that he holds in PTI, submit himself to an impartial inquiry and if he is found innocent - he should contest the elections again.
