Road accidents

Letter March 05, 2015
I request senior traffic police authorities to tell constables deployed on roads to do their job with greater vigour

KARACHI: Road accidents have been on the increase in Karachi despite the deployment of hundreds of traffic policemen on the roads. Many young and innocent people lose their lives every day because of rash and negligent driving. Many of those who drive cars, buses, trucks or motorcycles in the city are ignorant of traffic rules and one really has to wonder how they even managed to obtain a driving licence, as one has to pass a driving test first.

There have been many times when I have noticed drivers stop suddenly in the middle of the road, without looking back or sideways, and without giving any signal. I would request the senior traffic police authorities to tell constables deployed on the roads to do their job with greater vigour and take to task all those drivers who break the law and cause accidents.
