KARACHI:
An explosion occurred outside the city court in Karachi on Thursday afternoon.
Amid conflicting reports regarding the nature of the blast, SHO city court said the explosion was a result of a bottle full of chemicals blowing up.
“It was neither a cracker nor a grenade attack,” the SHO said.
Elaborating on the cause of the blast, the SHO said, “It might have been placed accidentally as the storage was being cleaned.”
However, contradicting his reports, former president Karachi Bar Association Mehmoodullah Hasan said, “There was a grenade placed outside the storage and there is another grenade, which the Bomb Disposal Squad has been called in to defuse.”
Adding the Bomb Disposal Squad was checking the area to look for any further explosives, the SHO said there were no important files in the storage.
