‘Enforced Disappearance’: Missing man returns home

HYDERABAD: The missing son of an activist returned home on Tuesday after being held captive for over 11 months. Rohail Laghari, the 23-year-old son of NGO activist Asghar Laghari, was allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance by an intelligence agency, which picked him up from the Hyderabad bypass in April 2014. Rohail, thought to be a worker of the banned Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), said that he was released on the mountains behind Sindh University. He claimed that he was beaten up and interrogated about his connection with JSMM and the organisation’s activities. He added that he told the interrogators that he was not affiliated with any political or nationalist group.
