Questioned on his 'violent' reaction to the AIB Roast which sparked criticism from the Bollywood industry, Aamir said he respected everyone's opinion.
"I also feel that freedom comes with responsibility which should be self-exercised. It's unfortunate that caught between the rightwing fascists and the 'no-holdsbarred' faction, the moderates are in danger of losing their voice," he said.

He went on to say that "I'm aware that if you sign up for the Roast, you sign up to insult each other. But, in this case, even those who hadn't signed up were being targeted, like Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo and a beautiful, young girl I love dearly."
The "beautiful, young girl" Aamir mentioned is Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan who was reportedly made fun of during the roast. The AIB team, however, had to remove the remarks on Arpita from the final cut after receiving a call from Salman himself, as reported by a leading Indian newspaper.

Aamir, approaching 50, said he did not object to the use of expletives or adult jokes. He pointed out that if two consenting adults wish to insult each other, that was their problem but to attack anyone without their consent was wrong.
Referring to a comment from Russel Peters who told him to 'shut up' he said that when someone uses words like that it made him believe that these people are certainly not a part of the group that stands for freedom of speech.

The Bollywood megastar is currently shooting for 'Dangal', in which he plays an ageing ex-wrestler. The movie will portray the emotional journey of a father and his two daughters women empowerment as its main theme.
"Nitish Tiwari's narration made me laugh and cry, it inspired me and made me feel the thrill of celebration," he said about the upcoming release.
"I play an ageing ex-wrestler with daughters, two of whom are young adults, so I'm ageing myself," he said.
Aamir Khan is also training in wrestling and learning Haryanvi for the role.
