Fatal dispute: Four of a family gunned down in Swabi

Son-in-law and grandsons entered their house and opened indiscriminate fire.

Four people including a teenage girl were killed while another person was injured over a family dispute in Swabi on Tuesday.


The incident occurred when four men of a family allegedly opened indiscriminate fire inside a house in Qadar area of the district. The accused have been identified as Sajid Zaman, his father Muhammad Zaman, Muhammad Ishaq and  Uzair Ali.


Abdul Wadood, the teenage girl’s grandfather and an eyewitness, said his son-in-law and grandsons entered their house and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Wadood’s wife, his son and his granddaughter, Hidayat Bibi, were killed on the spot. Following the incident, the four men tried to escape but one of Wadood’s sons opened fire at them. As a result, Sajid Zaman was killed on the spot while Uzair was injured.


Meanwhile, Uzair Ali narrated a different account of what happened to the police. According to the police report, he said Sajid Zaman shot dead Hidayat Bibi. Police then registered separate cases in this regard. According to initial investigation, the incident was triggered by a family dispute.
