ISLAMABAD: The top medical regulatory body has directed universities to establish continuing medical and dental education cells in their respective institutes.

Officials of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) held a meeting with vice chancellors of various medical universities from across the country on Monday, said a press release. The meeting was called to decide SOPs to standardise and strengthen the working of medical universities. PMDC President Dr Masood Hameed Khan directed the VCs to hold conferences, seminars and workshops focusing on continuing medical and dental education to facilitate doctors. He also asked the vice chancellors to ensure standard of their constituent and affiliated medical and dental colleges. Khan warned that PMDC would not renew registration of any doctor without continuing medical or dental education credit points. He emphasised that there would be zero tolerance on standards and working of universities and their respective colleges, failing which, the council would take strict disciplinary action.
