Rain causes Peshawar check-post roof to collapse, kill four FC soldiers

Three soldiers were also injured in the incident

PESHAWAR: Four Frontier Constabulary (FC) soldiers were killed and three others were injured on Monday evening when rains caused the roof of a check post in Peshawar to collapse.

According to details, three FC soldiers were killed and three were injured when the roof of their check post on Frontier Road in Mattani caved-in, trapping one soldier under the debris.

Officials mounted a rescue effort to retrieve those trapped under rubble. As they pulled the trapped soldier out, they found that he had died.

On Sunday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in the provincial capital had forecasted more rain across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

Speaking to The Express Tribune on Sunday, a met dept official said incessant downpour and hail was expected in upper parts of the province.

“Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Charsadda and various parts of Malakand and Hazara divisions will also experience heavy showers,” he added. According to the official, snowfall is also expected in parts of the province.
