Trouble in lyari: Six suspects injured in clash

Nearly half-a-dozen alleged criminals associated with Lyari-based gangs were wounded during a clash between two groups the in the troubled neighbourhood on Sunday.



The clash took place between suspects affiliated with the Sheraz Comrade group and the Jabbar Jhengu group at Aath Chowk. The alleged gangsters opened indiscriminate fire at each other and hurled awan bombs.


Following the unrest, police reached the site and cordoned off the area. The gangsters, however, directed their firing and bombs towards the law enforcers.


A larger contingent of police was summoned to the site. Panic gripped the neighbourhood following the bursts of gunfire and explosions as routine and commercial activities were suspended. The injured gangsters were affiliated with the Sheraz Comrade group. DSP Murtaza Mirani said none of the suspects were arrested as the gangsters managed to take their injured companions to an undisclosed location for medical treatment.
