The culprits were travelling on the motorway to Punjab where they were stopped and searched by the police. Upon searching the car, police recovered 150 shot guns, four Kalashnikov, six pistols and several bullets.
In a second car, police found ammunition in the cylinders of the car.

Several operations similar to this have been carried out in the northern regions in an attempt by the government to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Following the implementation of the National Action Plan, 12,462 suspects have been arrested. In a report submitted to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he was also informed that as many as 233 militants were identified to have links with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or its affiliates.
