ISLAMABAD:

The capital’s top cop has directed officers to complete investigations and submit charge-sheets in cases pending before the courts within a week.

IGP Tahir Alam Khan set the timeframe in a meeting held at the traffic police’s office in F-8 on Tuesday. Giving details, a spokesperson said around 400 to 500 cases were pending with the police because of non-submission of charge-sheets.

Khan stressed the need  for speedy disposal of  cases and transparent investigation. “Policing is a service-oriented job and every official must serve with devotion,” he said.

He added that police officials responsible for delaying FIR registration would face strict disciplinary action.
