Talking to the media, he said that the campaign will continue for a year. During the drive, Memon said, illegal signboards and billboards will be removed, an anti-encroachment drive will be carried out and tree plantation campaign will be launched across the province.
Regarding the performance of the municipal departments, the minister warned that either he or the ghost employees would stay in the office. He further added that the funds released to the district municipal corporations would be monitored.
Earlier, he started the province-wide plantation drive by planting a sapling on the premises of Sindh Assembly.
Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro, MQM leaders Khawaja Izharul Hasan and Faisal Subzwari and MPAs Imdad Pitafi and Fyaz Bhat were present on the occasion.
Memon said that civil society will be included in the tree plantation drive to create awareness about the importance of environmental protection. Initially 0.6 million saplings will be planted in the province, he said.
The minister said that the people themselves should realize the importance of cleanliness and take a proactive approach in getting their towns cleaned up.
