FAISALABAD:

A boy and a girl committed suicide on Monday after their families refused to allow them to marry. The Factory Area SHO said that 18-year-old Reshma*, a resident of Sir Syed Town, had fallen in love with 16-year-old Asif*, one of her neighbours.

“They had asked their parents to allow them to get married. However, their parents had refused. Both of them then swallowed poisonous pills,” the SHO said. They were taken to the divisional headquarters (DHQ) hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, the SHO said. *Names have been changed to protect identities .
