NAUDERO: An all-parties conference was convened at the Municipal Lawn on Sunday to discuss the issue of electricity load-shedding in the district that has made the lives of citizens miserable. At the meeting, the leaders of various political parties and traders’ unions agreed to form a joint front to address the issue. Speakers claimed that, each month, around Rs3 million to Rs4 million were collected by officials of the Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) from illegal power connection holders. All this money lined the pockets of the local Sepco authorities who have been posted to the district since a long time, they said. The representatives agreed to give a charter of their demands to Sepco. If the latter failed to address their grievances, the leaders warned to block all the roads to Naudero and Garhi Khuda Bux, and hold protests.
