GHALLANAI: The All Parties Alliance on Monday announced a boycott of Mohmand Agency’s political administration.

The announcement was made during a news conference at Mohmand Press Club. The political alliance’s acting president and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) organising committee member Malik Daud Khan said the campaign will continue until the Fata reforms of 2010 are implemented in letter and spirit.

Khan alleged the government machinery is allegedly involved in the embezzlement of development funds and has little interest in improving the infrastructure of the agency. “They charge duty on items of daily use at all entry and exits points of the agency,” he said, adding the cess is never documented and hence pocketed by officials.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Awami National Party Mohmand Agency President Nisar Mohmand said the alliance has also decided to hold a strike on March 5 against the injustices. He said the administration has taken back the security protocol provided to tribal elders and political leaders in the past, adding officials will be responsible in case of any untoward incident. Mohmand said the incumbent administration’s policies have choked business activity and the ban on mining has left thousands of mine workers unemployed.
