MINGORA:

The launching ceremony of The Uddiyana Kingdom: The forgotten holy land of Swat was held at Lala Rahim Shah Hujra in Rahimabad, Swat on Sunday.

Renowned historians, scholars, archaeologists and cultural activists lauded the efforts of the author, Fazal Khaliq, at the event organised by Lala Rahim Shah Foundation and Swat Adabi Sanga. “Developed nations give prime importance to their heritage and invest in its preservation and promotion,” said social activist and philanthropist Dr Sher Muhammad Khan who presided over the event.

Litterateur Fazal Mahmood Rokhan said Swat has been the epicentre of various civilisations and the book provides an insight into the past. “The book is a valuable addition to the resources of research scholars,” said Professor Zarawar Khan, a teacher of archaeology at the University of Swat. Social activist Zubair Torwali said the book delves into numerous aspects that the archaeology department has left untapped. Khaliq, the author, is a staffer of The Express Tribune.
