In judges’ honour: Outgoing IHCBA office-bearers cancel dinner

ISLAMABAD:

After facing severe criticism from lawyers, the outgoing office-bearers of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) have cancelled a dinner planned in honour of IHC judges. The dinner was supposed to be held on March 23 but the IHCBA office-bearers abandoned the plan after lawyers at a recent meeting of the District Bar Association criticised the move.

During the meeting, lawyers had objected saying that on December 15, 2014, both bars had passed a unanimous resolution against the incumbent IHC chief justice and the dinner will be against the spirit of that resolution. The lawyers had also criticised the IHCBA decision to collect Rs3,000 from each lawyer to host the dinner.
