There is no gainsaying that jewellery is one of the most popular accessories among women in Pakistan. And, in the wake of accessory and apparel designers joining hands to offer their items under one roof, fashion enthusiasts have a whole range of both to pair and wear from. Kiran Aman launching her popup jewellery boutique at designer Misha Lakhani’s flagship store is a recent instance of this trend.
Featuring 30 unique pieces, the collection will be available for purchase at the store, which is located on E-Street, Clifton, Karachi. “I will continue to stock at the store, as I want people to pick up pieces off the rack quickly without having to take personal appointments with me,” Aman told The Express Tribune. Along with the brand’s classic textured gold pieces, the new boutique showcases the signature ‘So KFJ’ line, known for its textured and beaten gold in 22 to 23 karat gold.
The jewellery featured her signature preference for dull good, with intricate rather than chunky designs. Although popular for crafting big and bold pieces, the designer said she wanted to make a shift in her design aesthetic. “I have always prepared pieces that stand out but, now, I want to design something that fits everyone’s budget.” The jewels are roughly priced between Rs30,000 and Rs1,50,000.
Exuding a modern vibe, the collection comprises pendants, rings, earrings, bangles and bracelets. It features stones, such as akik (agate) and feroza (turquoise), mostly in the form of pendants and rings, along with a few diamond earrings and dull-gold textured bangles. On why she stocked her collection at the Misha Lakhani store, she said, “There is a vintage aspect to my designs. My jewellery will complement the outfits exhibited at the studio, which are mainly ready-to-wear party ensembles.”
Lakhani, also present at the launch, spoke about her preceding partnership with Aman. “We first collaborated for PLBW in October last year. Kiran had brought down her beaten gold collection, which was well-received by the audience,” she said. She looks forward to undertaking more projects with the jewellery designer. Of Aman’s collection, she said, “What I like about it is that there is a sense of versatility to it. It’s like East-meets-West,” adding, “The combination of our collections isn’t completely traditional, but it is certainly multipurpose.”
“I am delighted to launch the pop-up space series for my jewellery brand Kiran Fine Jewellery,” said Aman, according to a press release. “The series came about owing to my desire to make my collections more accessible, yet within the right aesthetic context, hence, our designer space collaboration,” she added. Commenting on the intrinsic link between jewellery and outfits, she stated, “I believe there is a powerful relationship between jewellery design and fashion in general, which we have endeavoured to capture and showcase through this new popup bespoke boutique concept.”
Aman’s jewellery collection, which is available at the boutique, include ‘So KFJ’ line, ‘Esoteric: things that are understood by a select few’, ‘Nau’, and ‘Harmonia’. Her ‘Harmonia’ collection was paired with Lakhani’s outfits at last year’s PLBW. Aman also owns a standalone store at Ocean Mall. The current collections of her jewellery pieces will be on display for about four weeks at Lakhani’s store.
