Windar pile-up: Five dead in back-to-back accidents

QUETTA: Fog, slippery road and reckless driving caused two back-to-back accidents on RCD Highway in Windar area of Lasbela district on Friday, police said. At least five people were killed and seven injured in the two incidents that occurred 30 minutes apart. According to the Windar police, a car heading to Karachi from Quetta rammed into a truck when it suddenly stopped near a roadside hotel. Four people travelling in the car died on the spot, while one was critically injured. The victims were residents of Quetta. Within 30 minutes of the car crash, a pick-up car collided with a bus going to Quetta from Karachi near the same stretch of the highway. Two more cars collided with the pickup. Six people were wounded in this second accident. The second incident took place when the bus made an abrupt stop near the accident scene, police said. “There was fog and highway was slippery,” a police official in Windar said, “the reckless driving led to this deadly accident.”
