Public complaints: ‘Let ombudsman do his work’
The directive was preventing the ombudsman from taking up public complaints
LAHORE:
A Lahore High Court division bench on Thursday suspended a single bench’s order preventing the federal ombudsman from hearing complaints against electricity and natural gas distribution companies. The federal ombudsman had submitted through his secretary that the directive was preventing the ombudsman from taking up public complaints against the two state-owned enterprises. The petition stated that this left the consumers with no option but to bring their complaints to the courts. The bench directed the parties concerned to argue their cases at the next hearing on March 17.
