Tragic: Man murders wife, kills himself

LAHORE: A man slit his wife’s throat and then hanged himself at his house on Wednesday. Police said Muhammad Waseem, a resident of Dharampura, murdered his wife Yasmeen and then committed suicide. Mustafabad SHO Malik Khalid said the bodies had been taken to Mayo Hospital for an autopsy. He said their families did not wish to pursue a case so they had not registered an FIR. He said police was proceeding under Section 174 (inquiry of suicide). Muhammad Amjad, one of the neighbours, said it was tragic for the 18-month child the couple had left behind. He said Yasmeen and Waseem were preparing for a wedding in the family. He said they had never quarrelled, “but I think he might have been on drugs”.
