Frontier Corps kill 15 BLF militants in Kharan gun battle

One FC officer killed in encounter, several militant hideouts destroyed

QUETTA: At least 15 Baloch militants belonging to the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) and a Frontier Corps official were killed  Tuesday morning in a gun battle in Basima area of Kharan district.

Security forces had launched a search operation in Khori village area of Basima area when a group of armed men hiding inside a bunker suddenly started firing at the security personnel.

“As result of the firing, a security official was killed and three others wounded,” FC spokesperson told The Express Tribune.

In retaliatory firing, FC killed at least 15 militants belonging to the banned BLF, the spokesman added. Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the site. According to Express News, security forces have recovered 24 rifles with bullets, an SMG with ammunition and other weapons from the militants.

“The exchange of fire is still underway,” a security official said.

Just a day ago, the paramilitary FC had arrested four people suspected of having links with a banned organisation during search operations in Zhob district of Balochistan.
