Quashing terrorism: Sindh CM approves 64 cases for military courts

The top cop of Sindh says he had recommended 85 cases to legal committee for their opinion

KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has approved 64 cases for military courts. The legal committee has also given its opinion and termed these 64 cases fit for military courts, a senior official told The Express Tribune.

The legal committee comprises home secretary as its convener, secretary law, prosecutor general, additional IG (CTD), deputy DG Rangers and Additional IGP (legal) and representatives of ISI, MI and IB as its members.

The Sindh CM accorded his approval in a special meeting held with IGP Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali, the official said.

The top cop of Sindh briefing the chief minister said that he had recommended 85 cases to the legal committee for their opinion. However, the committee approved 64 cases that will stand trial in military courts.

Prominent among the cases being sent to military courts are attack on convoy of Justice Maqbool Baqar, Karachi airport attack case and murder of advocate Mubarak Raza Kazmi.
