The 57th Annual Grammy Awards went about in full swing, and while we were keyed up about the performances by maestros, we enjoyed watching Hollywood A-listers peacock down the red carpet. With music and fashion so intimately entwined, their over-the-top outfits were among the most compelling of the red carpet season.

Gwen Stefani

Stefani undoubtedly stood out in a fitted custom Versace jumpsuit. Showing off her enviable curves in the taut jet-black outfit which featured a mesh top, she surely looked like a piece of artwork. The detailing on the corsetry of the jumpsuit paired with elaborate beading made the Hollaback singer one of the best dressed at the occasion. Her super-blonde locks were swept up into a modern bee hive style and she rounded up her look in shimmery net Manolo Blahnik heels.

Beyonce

Queen Bey loves a sheer moment, and she didn’t disappoint in the intricately tailored custom creation by New York-based designers Proenza Schouler. The black dress featured a long train of mesh fabric and there was also an attached extension that made our jaws drop. The 33-year-old Drunk In Love chart topper wore her highlighted honey-hued hair down in soft waves. The superstar wore almost no jewellery except a pair of emerald drop earrings, and we approved.

Rihanna

The 26-year-old Where Have You Been singer made quite an entrance in a Giambattista Valli Couture gown. The star wore the silk and tulle bubble-gum-pink dress effortlessly well, despite the oodles of volume the two-tiered number comprised of. It was slightly over the top but fun, just like the Grammys event itself. The Barbados beauty polished up her look with dazzling diamond earrings and kept her tresses pulled back in a neat fashion.

Taylor Swift

The Shake It Off chart topper donned a blue-green dress by Ellie Saab that had an opening in the front that revealed her incredibly trim legs and a pair of daring fuchsia strappy heels. Sadly though, the aqua metallic “mullet” gown looked a bit too much like a prom dress but kudos to Taylor for being one of the few Grammy guests to sport a bright hue. Her blonde locks were worn to the side and her eye make-up matched the bluish-green tones of her dress.
