Transparency International Pakistan in its reply to the legal notice sent by the lawyer of Najam Sethi said that it issues statements on basis of complaints that it receives.

“We feel the notice has been sent by you probably without properly reading our letter on the subject,” the whistle-blower against corruption wrote adding, “You will find that in our letter it is specifically mentioned, ‘Transparency International-Pakistan received complaint….”

TIP said it has nothing personal against Najam Sethi. “We have nothing to do with what transpired between Najam Sethi and FBR or for that matter Commissioner Appeals and FTO and we are at a loss to understand, if Najam Sethi is the most reputed independent journalist in Pakistan …than what loss of reputation he has suffered,” it said. TIP stands by its letter which was based on a complaint.
