LAHORE: The Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC) was registered on Friday. It will ask for proposals for the Punjab Health Insurance Scheme in 10 days. The government had planned to launch the insurance scheme by March 23 as pilot project in Layyah, Rajanpur, Hafizabad and Chakwal districts at a cost of Rs4 billion. MPA Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha, the PHIMC Board of Directors chairperson, told The Express Tribune on Saturday that they had finalised the request for proposals. “It will be floated in 10 days. We will soon start hiring staff for the company,” she said. The five short-listed insurance companies will be called for bidding following the formal request for proposals. Independent biding will take place for each of the four districts. Families in the districts will be issued insurance cards. The coverage ceiling will be limited to Rs35,000 per annum.
